Episode 3 – Countdown to Santana Trophy and New Milestones

In the second week of building Purdey, the Gazelles team has made serious progress—and we at eurospare are thrilled to see Purdey shaping up! With the Santana Trophy marked as her first test event, there’s an air of excitement and focus as the countdown ticks down.

Prepping for the Desert with Santana Trophy in Sight

The Santana Trophy, set in the Moroccan desert, will be Purdey’s first real test on Dakar-like terrain. The Gazelles are using this event to see how she handles challenging conditions, giving them a chance to fine-tune the vehicle before the big Dakar Classic event. With each passing day, the anticipation and pressure grow, but so does the team’s determination.

Building the Fuel System & Chassis

The team started with the fuel system this week, carefully fitting new pipes, a filter housing, and clamps to secure everything to the chassis. Each small piece plays a big part, and every fitting, clip, and bolt is one step closer to bringing Purdey to life.

In true rally spirit, even unexpected items like a yoga mat found a purpose, providing the perfect grip material under the fuel tank strap to keep things snug and secure!

Tackling the Front Suspension and Axle

Next up, the front suspension and axle installation was underway, along with some fine-tuning of radius arms and poly bushes. With careful alignment, Chris and the Gazelles fitted the hockey sticks and bolts, securing Purdey’s suspension system piece by piece.

Reusing & Recycling

Staying true to the spirit of reusing parts, the Gazelles salvaged more from the old chassis, from panhard rod brackets to spring seats. The team’s approach of cleaning, priming, and reconditioning keeps Purdey both authentic and budget-friendly. As they say, every bit counts.

Step by Step, Building the Brake System

eurospare contributions came into play again as the brake system took shape. From the brake booster to the master cylinder, every part was carefully fitted, with extra attention to torque settings for safety and precision.

A Milestone Moment – Wheels & Tires On

As the week wrapped up, the Gazelles celebrated a big moment: putting Purdey’s wheels on for the first time! Seeing her mobile is a rewarding sight and a reminder of the hard work that’s gone into every step. The tires, GT Radial H7s, are the same trusted models they’ve used in past rallies, giving Purdey the traction she’ll need in the desert.

With each week, Purdey is getting closer to the finish line, and we at eurospare are proud to support the Gazelles every step of the way. Stay tuned as the countdown to Santana Trophy continues, and we see what week three has in store for Purdey and the team.
